The Event Not to Miss!

On Monday, April 8th, a magnificent and extremely rare event will occur: a total solar eclipse. The Eastern Townships are one of the only regions in Quebec entirely within the path of totality of the eclipse. Bromont welcomes you wholeheartedly for the occasion! Head to the mountaintop – a favored spot to observe this spectacular event. You’ll be able to see the Moon perfectly aligning between the Earth and the Sun, concealing the eclipse itself, for only 3 minutes and 18 seconds. It appears that the next eclipse like this will occur in over 80 years!

Arrive early to fully enjoy the view from the top, accompanied by a festive atmosphere and our special menu at the Chalet du Sommet. Bring your chairs and settle in comfortably on the terrace or the main plateau between the lifts of the Village and the Lac. What’s more, we’ll have the president of the Fédération des Astronomes Amateurs du Québec on hand to explain this astral phenomenon. He’ll be carrying a telescope dedicated to observing the sun, and a pair of binoculars with solar filters. An employee of the Canadian Space Agency and member of the astronomy club will assist the president as an expert, talking about Canadian astronomical missions and complementing the eclipse elements.

– Opening: 12 p.m.
– Last descent of the lift: 5:30 p.m.

– Totality begins: 3:27 p.m.
– Totality ends: 3:30 p.m.
