Intermediate
Terrain
Level
AV1 - Bronze
Goal
Parallel skis some of the time and round turn shape. Some separation of upper/lower body. Pole plant on the correct side.
Terrain
Level
AV2 - Silver
Goal
Linked parallel turns on a blue terrain. Consistent balance on the outside ski. Increases edge grip through by angulation. Speed control on steeper and varied terrain. A well-timed pole plant.
Terrain
Level
AV3 - Gold
Goal
Performance parallel turns. Steering effort with the lower body. Speed control using short turns. Generate speed with clean edging (carving out-side ski).
Advanced - Expert
Terrain
Level
PE1 - Bronze
Goal
Steering versatility. Separation is maintained as edging increases. Use of ski reaction for rebound and turn linking. Speed control on steep terrain.
Terrain
Level
PE2 - Silver
Goal
Mobility and strength in challenging terrain. Consistent steering in short turns. Coordinated movements at advanced speed. Use of ski reaction to generate speed.
Terrain
Level
PE3 - Gold
Goal
Dynamic skiing. Consistent snow contact. Anticipation and control of ski reaction. Varied speed and turn shape as desired. Stance and mechanics adjusted to situation.

JUNIORS AND ADULTS - 6 YEARS OLD +
Beginner
Terrain
Level
Step 1 Challenge
Goal
Develop a good position and balance. Initiation to pressure transfer and direction change. Side slipping with one foot attached to the board for balance and speed control.
Terrain
Level
Step 2 Challenge
Goal
Further development of the balanced body position. Strapping the back foot in (both standing and sitting). Control of speed while side slipping with both feet attached to the Board.
Terrain
Level
Step 3 Radical
Goal
Initiation of rotational movements in the body. Development of beginner turns on both the heel side and toe side. Controls speed (on both edges) in a sideslip by flexing the hips, knees and ankles at the end of the turn.
Terrain
Level
Step 4 Radical
Goal
Beginning to develop of fore/aft & rotational balance. Initiation of vertical balance through flexion movements. Linking toe side and heel side turns with enhanced stability through a lower center of mass.
Intermediate
Terrain
Level
Step 5 Vertical
Goal
Initiation of vertical balance through flexion movements. Increasing edge angle by using hips, knees and ankles effectively. Increased speed while turning.
Terrain
Level
Step 6 Vertical
Goal
Starting to carve the snowboard. Improvement of stability and control by increasing movements of angulation and flexion. Demonstration of edging at the fall line. Improvement of timing and coordination in the linking of turns at higher speeds.
Terrain
Level
Step 7 Mega
Goal
Improved lateral balance at the start of the turn. Edging earlier in the turn – above the fall line. Improvement of stability and control by introducing bumpy terrain.
Advanced - Expert
Terrain
Level
Step 8 Mega
Goal
Development of terrain adaptation skills. Improvement of pressure control in carved turns. Improvement of steering, and timing and coordination skills. Ability to perform shorter-radius turns on black slopes. Ability to perform carved turns with board performance.
Terrain
Level
Step 9 Extreme
Goal
Improvement of linked short radius turns at a higher speed through better timing and coordination of edging, pressure control, and steering movements. Development of performance by using the resultant pressure from the board (rebound).
Terrain
Level
Step 10 Extreme 2
Goal
Ability to ride in various snow conditions and adapt to uneven and on bumpy terrain. Ability to manage pressure by changing edges in a flexed position. Ability to ride switch, or fakie across a variety of terrain.
