What the MONTANA robot actually does
The all-in-one MONTANA robot combines three major types of ski servicing into one streamlined, high-performance process.
1. Base Grinding
1. Base GrindingThe first and most crucial step automatically adjusts rotation speed and pressure based on the diameter of the grinding stones. Stone grinding produces a completely uniform surface — unlike belt systems, which can leave uneven patterns. Depth settings (from 0.005 to 0.06 mm) ensure an optimal base structure for any type of snow.
With this polishing method, it becomes possible to create any type of micro-structure adapted to any snow condition. These micro-patterns, too fine to feel by hand, reduce friction between the base and the snow. This controlled water evacuation prevents the ski from “sticking” to the snow and guarantees faster glide.
This step leaves the base immaculate, fast, and ready to glide like new.
2. Edge Sharpening with GRIPtech Technology
GRIPtech sharpens the edges vertically, from tip to tail, creating micro-structures that enhance precision and durability. Pressure automatically adapts, ensuring the same amount of material is removed along the full length of the edge. A specially selected polishing belt limits how deep the sharpening goes to ensure a smooth, polished finish.
Edge angles range from 86° to 90°, in 0.5° increments, to match your skiing style and snow conditions. For example, a 87° edge angle is used for very icy conditions, while a 89° angle performs better on hard, compact snow.
This tech delivers a ski with better bite, more control, and stronger edge durability.
3. MONTANA Radial Tuning (Base Side)
Radial Tuning adjusts edge angle depending on the zone of the ski, more pronounced at the tip and tail, softer underfoot.
Combined with High-Tech Tuning 3D (HTT), this process produces polished edges, race-level glide, and superior handling.
You get a ski that’s far more agile, turns smoothly, and still has excellent grip where it matters.
