Bromont with Friends, the Mountain in Every Version

Birds eye view of Bromont, montagne d'expériences Water Park and hotel in the summer

Camille Desrosiers-Gaudette recently treated herself to a getaway with friends in Bromont! She shares her experience after spending two nights right by the mountain.

Some getaways are planned around the kids. Others are planned specifically to take a break from them, to experience the mountain at a completely different pace. That is exactly the kind of trip we had at Bromont, mountain of experiences, with two friends, no schedule to follow, and a real desire to try it all.

We were an unlikely trio. Julie, a mom friend like me, always up for something out of the ordinary, Mathieu, a friend without kids who said yes before I even finished the sentence, and me. Leaving the little ones behind wasn’t just about finding a babysitter. Some of the trip’s biggest highlights, including the new Gigantico zone and mountain biking, require an age my kids haven’t reached yet.

Rather than juggling a schedule that only half worked for everyone, we chose a no-compromise version, with plans to come back and explore the rest as a family later on. In barely forty-eight hours, with a hotel right on the mountain and a packed schedule, it genuinely felt like a real vacation.

A Water Park Built for Every Type of Guest

Our stay started in the water, at eleven o’clock Monday morning, before we had even checked into the hotel. The new Gigantico slides had nothing in common with what we remembered from the park before. The best part was being able to ride several of the slides two or three at a time, which led to plenty of laughter. A reserved cabana right next to the wave pool became our home base between slides. Even on a Monday, wait times stayed short everywhere, Gigantico included.

What stands out about this park is how well it brings together completely different kinds of guests. Thrill seekers have Gigantico, those looking to unwind have the wave pool, and everyone else can simply relax in the calmer zones. There is also a large section dedicated to younger children, one I am genuinely looking forward to exploring with my own kids on a future visit.

A Hotel That Makes Everything Easier

We arrived at the Residence Inn around 4:45 p.m., just steps from the water park and the lifts used for mountain biking. That kind of proximity completely changes the rhythm of a trip, no need to drive between activities, everything is within walking distance, from the hotel to the park to the village. The rooms come with a kitchenette, so meals can easily be handled in the suite too, on top of breakfast already being included. After a full day of slides, we headed straight for the hotel’s spa and heated outdoor pool, apparently we hadn’t had quite enough time in the water yet. Dinner was at Cabinn, with a varied menu, several shared plates at the bar, and a solid selection of wine and cocktails. Special mention goes to the octopus dish, an absolute favorite.

Alpine Slide, Between Laughter and Nostalgia

Tuesday morning, after breakfast at the hotel and a short walk through the village of Bromont, we headed to the Alpine Slide, available as an add-on to the water park. For me it was a first, while my friends hadn’t been on one since their teenage years. We expected a simple ride down and got an impromptu competition and nonstop laughter instead. A great way to warm up before the afternoon’s mountain biking.

A Mountain Biking Offer That’s Hard to Match

The bike experience, a 1h15 lesson, let us learn the basics with a dedicated instructor, everything from how to position ourselves on the bike to how to react to obstacles, followed by a few warm-up laps at the base of the mountain. Bromont is built like a true downhill resort, bikes go up by chairlift and trails are rated by level (green, blue, black), much like skiing. We stuck to the green trails, with an instructor who stopped regularly to fine tune our technique and make sure everything was going well.

Few mountains in Quebec offer a network this complete, with dedicated lifts and structured lessons for beginners. Far from just renting a bike and figuring it out, we got real guidance from start to finish, a genuine advantage for anyone starting from scratch.

An Evening of Spa and Great Food

Back at the hotel, a happy hour in the room gave us a chance to unwind before a second trip to the spa and pool. For dinner, we headed to Le Babar, in Old Bromont. This Lebanese inspired restaurant, with its varied wine list and shareable dishes, several of them vegetarian, won everyone over almost instantly. The evening wrapped up back at the hotel with a few drinks, stretching out a particularly full day just a little longer.

A Getaway That Makes You Want to Come Back

Wednesday morning, one last breakfast on the hotel’s terrace closed out the trip on a relaxed note. What stays with us most is how seamlessly Bromont packs in such varied experiences in so little time, the water park, the Alpine Slide, the mountain biking, without ever feeling repetitive.

A trip like this among adults doesn’t take anything away from wanting to come back as a family, quite the opposite. It’s a preview of what’s waiting for us once the kids are old enough for Gigantico and the mountain biking trails. In the meantime, we came home tired in the best possible way, with the certainty that this mountain of experiences truly lives up to its name.
